State Lottery + Uke Box + Guignol + Defiance, Ohio at Europa

Alex Nathanson documents a night of the many strands of punk at Europa: savage, gypsy, folk, klezmer, Ohioan, just don’t call it pop. Or maybe do call it pop.

It was one of State Lottery’s first gigs, while Defiance, Ohio and Guignol had met up for a few previous nights while Defiance traveled on a substantial tour, both with enough of a local following to pull a decent crowd of people into the night club painted like the interior of a Greek restaurant for a floor stomping closer that made the trek to the official venue worth it for our young photographer, even if the Poles behind the counters wouldn’t serve him any booze.
