Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt at Ace of Spades

It was a sold out crowd for the music and antics of Tyler, Earl and several other members of Odd Future on Friday, May 17th. Ace of Spades security was on full alert before they even came out. Barriers were getting broken and teenagers at the front of the crowd were getting compacted. Through the night a dozen or so people would be pulled, some from the heat and crowds, others because they might have been a little too radical.

With no opening acts, OF member Taco DJ'd a few tracks to get the crowd going before spraying water and front flipping into the eager crowd. Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, and Jasper Dolphin came out shortly after with explosive energy that was kept up through the night. They would crack jokes, tell stories, try to get Jasper to twerk on stage, as well mingle with the audience like a fireside chat. “The most diverse crowd on tour yet,” as Tyler proclaimed, with the group spanning generations and every shade of sweaty tank top and skin you could imagine. Tyler alluded to his Elk Grove High days—a short lived one year—as well as mention “Anyone from South Sac? Then there's probably a gun in here.”

A true performance for a die hard following from the fun loving Wolf Gang and a must-see for anyone with daddy issues, hates school, doesn't give a shit, and knows it's all fun and games until someone gets slapped by Earl.
