London’s genre-blending, multi-talented artist Jasmine Rodgers is set to release her debut album Blood Red Sun on October 28th. We got a listen to the eleven track stunner, and we had some thoughts to share with you.
“Blood Red Sun” begins the album in a serene space with the strings, but there is an instrumental aspect that also makes it sound frantic. To feel both emotions at once is very rare, and it’s almost alarming. Jasmine’s vocals set in, folk-driven and absolutely beautiful as they dance over the simple notes of the song. “Taken” follows suit, gorgeous in its lyrical conviction and a lot more twangy than its predecessor. And while “Let It Burn” is over all too quickly, its sporadic instrumentals almost feel like a fire in your heart leading into a song that serves as its direct contrast, “Icicles”.
The rest of the album follows suit, throwing its listeners into an intensely woven narrative that alters emotions drastically. Our personal favorite? “Underwater”, for its sentiment feels much like our every day. Listen to it if you need a little inspiration for your day.
This album is an absolute dream, and we can’t wait until its release date at the end of the month.
