Ice Water – the next Wu Tang dynasty?

Post Author:

While Ice Water is an offshoot multimedia company of the Wu Tang Corporation for which Raekwon is Chief Creative Officer and main artist, (having released his third LP through Ice Water by way of Universal), now it's also a collective of Raekwon's disciples, for lack of a better term (certainly not employees?). Their album, Polluted Water will be out August 28th on Babygrande Records because, as Raekwon explains it, “Babygrande recognized that Wu is a brand, and we’ve got so many different divisions of rappers around us.”

(By the way, if this were 1993, wouldn't all these titles and terms sound like some weird Dystopian future of corporate ownership over art or something? Stop whining. Thank 50 and Jay-Z or even the Clan itself; business acumen has been the new street cred for years.)

Ice Water is Staten Islanders Polite, Stomach, P.C. (Paulie Caskets) and D.C. (Donnie Cash), who, “under the tutelage of Wu-Tang Clan’s resident chef Raekwon” have developed their craft over the past decade. Raekown quote:

“I can’t put my name on anything that I feel is not on my level. These dudes are on my level, that’s why I pushed for the project; I believe in them.”

The LP includes featured appearances by Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Three Six Mafia, Remy Ma, Jagged Edge “and more”.
