Negativland releases Thigmotactic today.
For the first time in their 28-odd years, Negativland is releasing an album based more in song than in the destruction and reassemblage of other media. There's still a degree of culture jamming, whether you interpret its presence in the various audio clips or borrowed melodies floating through the LP, or in the general playfulness with which Mark Hosler manipulates music.
Hosler will be appearing in Baltimore on Thursday for Whartscape and in New York on Sunday for a Hackers of Planet Earth conference to talk about “The Intersection of Culture Jamming, Hacking and Hacktivism.”
