Listen: P-Heavy

Post Author:

Coming straight out of 信州.

The girls of P-Heavy, Chifumi, Nami, and Masako, have played and toured with an array of acts visiting Japan. Among these have been Modest Mouse (you may have heard of them?), laptop agonist Her Space Holiday, torrid troubador Mirah, Little Wings (project of artist and past Devendra Banhart and M. Ward collaborator Kyle Field), and LA's Mika Miko. That might qualify as some kind of pedigree.

Sharing duties on guitars, vox, and drums, this Matsumoto, Japan indie trio's loud, polyrhythmic, and dissonant punk is the intersection of the Go-Gos, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, and Sleater-Kinney with bonus volume, extra garage.

Two guitars, no bass, all funhouse angles, fever, and shake. Triplex releases this November on Tokyo indie label Poet Portraits.
