And while the week had us exhausted and famished, one more evening of Noise Pop mystery remained. An unknown venue, an unknown lineup, who would guest? And would Ty Segall really headline? While our boy Ty didn't make it, Tycho, Maus Haus and tUnE-yArDs kept the tunes jamming and really appeared to be having as much fun and maybe more than any of us in their DJ booth.
While we debunked the rumors of this secret show, a quick pop-in to Bottom of the Hill where The Dandelion War was charming up a storm, followed by Boyfrndz who at first fumbled with the equipment before showing us sleepy hill dwelling San Franciscans how things are done,LA style. And as if that blaze of ear wax puking glory would be enough, Native brought the storm with extra axe hammers of aggressive distortion.
Then there we were at the secret venue that turned out to be Market Street's Rebel. Walking up to the stage we became part of a future Maus Haus video as Jason Kick and friends proved to be in top flight form amid the GetPro array of cameras for captures. tUnE-yArDs dropped everything from Off the Wall Michael to Beasties before Scott Hansen and the crew of Tycho washed away the remains of Noise Pop 2013, leaving us all with the questions of what 2014 headliners to come, and who's next?
