In another challenging and predictably inventive new release from LOM, Eastern European musician András Cséfalvay gives us a release that is as outside our wheelhouse as we could possibly imagine. Titled Funeral the Musical and another tabletop opera (casing theirs, not ours), the opus is made up of somber, over-the-top, dark renditions of the occasional familiar song as well as original compositions. The organ features prominently on the track and the haunted, frequently freeform vocals feel operatic and full of phantoms. One of the highlights of this latest is that the limited edition cassette comes with a traditional “cutout template with characters from the operas for further re-enacting of the stories.”
