Do not let the suspicion that immediately following Dan Bodan's campfire coo will be a ukulele scare you off this AM gold. No, this is not a Jason Mraz cover.
Signed to DFA, Dan Bodan is a Berlin-based singer, songwriter, and producer who handles all those responsibilities mentioned on his new single. Bodan takes to “Anonymous” like a one-man Beach Boy, layering himself to siren in the shoreline. By the time the instrumentation finds leverage we're cozy within an r&b song that presses the puree button on a blender of yacht and 90s boy band lyrics – placing a tiny umbrella in the glass for garnish. What Bodan pulls off is a sleek 98° song wrapped in the stylized escapism of washboard percussion and the digital pings that mimick the plump of skipping stones. It tricks an older brother into thinking he's not listening to his teenage sister's music.
Dan Godan's Anonymous single is out now on DFA.
