Deer Tick, “The Rock”

Providence, RI's Deer Tick have been making music for a long time now, but they continue to improve on their alt-rock sound with every record they put out. Their latest, Negativity, is scheduled for release on Partisan Records on September 24, from which this first single finds itself. It's called “The Rock” and it pulls in influences of all kinds, with a central focus on ominous, affected (in the good way) alt-country. Horns and keys are abundant, as well as fade-ins and fade-outs. With its title and this first single, Negativity feels like a monolithic album already. Supposedly the record was inspired by a lot of dark subjects and events, so it's no wonder that if feels as heavy as it does.

You can preorder the record on Partisan Records at this link and stream “The Rock” below.
