Charismatic Norwegian psych-rock outfit soars on hazy new single

Comprised of lead vocalist/guitarist Even Kjelby, bassist Ole Kristian Einarsen, and drummer Lars Henrik Stoud Platou – Great News are one of the most exciting new bands emerging out of Norway at the moment.

Leaning on elements of shoegaze, indie and pop, the trio released their debut album Wonderfault in 2017 to critical acclaim. The album put the Norwegian outfit on the map, and now they’re returning in April with their follow-up LP Now and Them.

Ahead of the album’s release, the band is sharing their riveting new single “Reality Show.” It’s an incredibly endearing track that builds with soft pop synth chords and uplifting indie riffs. It’s an exceptional juxtaposition of dark and contemplative lyrics with upbeat, jovial production.

“It’s that story about the guy who doesn’t foresee the impact joining a reality show has for his future,” the band shared. “He’s also bitter because he realizes that the whole world watched him make all these bad decisions and that’s what he’ll forever be known for. The dude who had sex on TV.”
