On July 1, Born Bad Records out of France will release a remix album of Francis Bebey tracks, but luck has it that it's up and ready to stream right now. Francis Bebey, for the unitiated, was a Cameroonian-born musician, writer, and artist, who spent most of his life in France putting out more than twenty records of music that were influenced by mixing makossa with smooth guitars and French stylings. The remixes that are on this short EP are a tribute to him and his best-known songs, and there are contributions from Daphni (Dan Snaith of Caribou), Pilooski, Populette, Young Marco, Etienne Jaumet, and Fine Line. It's a thrilling must-listen, and breathes life back into songs that are at once familiar while having been changed drastically.
You can pick up a very limited copy of the remix album 12″ through Born Bad next month.
