Scallops Hotel

Presenting the surprise release from scallops hotel, oka milo, with the sequel to Over The Carnage Rose a Voice Prophetic titled sovereign nose of (y)our arrogant face. Released through scallops/milo main man Roy Ferreria’s imprint Ruby Yacht, the multidisciplinary mind/label boss has arranged an upcoming tour running through February alongside contemporaries Elucid & JPEGMAFIA before joining up with Open Mike Eagle in March for a European tour. Hot off the heels of last August’s energetic ambitions of Who Told You To Think??!!?!?!?!sovereign nose turns the audience’s attention to the second chapter of a trilogy that breaks into the existential zeitgeist & chaos of our times that entertains the auras that are beyond the ephemeral veil.
Welcome to the Scallops Hotel building where Ferreira exhibits a cycle of personally produced verse parables (plus a production cameo from Steel Tipped Dove), where you are treated to an exercise of active enlightenment in the modern age. From the piano-diamonds that are encrusted into the double helix biochemistry of “a terror way beyond falling”, the keys blend Chopin baby grand styles with a new language of illustrated gravity. Flexing with a strength that is outside the material realm, Rory builds up the scallops hotel mansion brick by brick on “ryu drums (fat tummy riff suite)”, counting blessings & gifts with the offering of “bought my kid a high chair” that is a hymn that represents a yearning that extends in an evolution that breaks the conventions of the confessional booth. Cuts like “leisure” exude everything implied by the track’s namesake that queues you into the praxis mode of “a method (JAWGEMS pausing in the hotel lobby)”, taking you to the dojo of “temple in the Green” with a shout-out to Jorge Luis Borges, to a meditative moment shared with YOUNGMAN through the cathartic craft of “private temple hours”. The deluxe suite is showcased with the pensive ruminations on “rank, title, pressures”, keeping the touring group on schedule with “20 on five”, taking it to the out of body locater “wherearewe”, right before the Steel Tipped Dove co-produced closer “sedans” that moves like flying cars in a baroque blend of brilliance.

Rory Ferreira of scallops hotel introduced the new album with the following informative preface:

All production courtesy scallops hotel except “sedans” which is co-produced by Steel Tipped Dove.
All rhymes courtesy scallops hotel except “private temple hours”, YOUNGMAN wrote his own rhymes.
The project was recorded in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NYC in late September of 2017. I would meet Steel Tipped Dove at his studio,
with coffee, every day at 1:30pm. The document of a weekend in early autumn and second of a trilogy that expands the scallops hotel biomythoverse as well as
punctures reality
with its
reach.

sovereign nose of (y)our arrogant face is pt 2 of a trilogy that begins with over the carnage rose a voice prophetic
