Lucky Dragons is the collaboration between Sarah Rara and Luke Fischbeck. Their last recording, Shape Tape, was pure ambient tone, and watching them perform that piece on the top of the Clocktower Gallery in Manhattan cooled down one of last summer's scorching days. But I was missing something from that work, and I couldn't figure out what it was. This new preview track off of the 21 minute mini-album called EXISTERS has much more of one of my favorite Lucky Dragons assets: Rara's wonderfully metropolitan vocals. Her voice adds to the ambient extraction of their synthesizer modes and makes what is a lateral movement through sound and time into something that has a little more bounce and even a small amount of robot sexuality.
EXISTERS comes out on Swill Children on Valentine's Day (you can pre-order one now) and the edition is limited to 500. In the meantime you can catch them in Slovakia, the Netherlands, and closer to the record's release date, some American locales.
