On Thursday, March 6th, The Men ventured from Brooklyn to play their fourth annual record release party, this time in Manhattan with locals Nude Beach and Parquet Courts. All bands released great albums recently, with Parquet Courts and Nude Beach both independently released albums that were picked up and put out by other companies.
Parquet Courts played a great set and previewed a few new songs. Many of the people in the audience knew the words to the bigger poppier songs like “Yr No Stoner.”
Nude Beach's band relationship with The Men makes more and more musical sense as The Men continue to move into less abrasive sound.
Speaking of less abrasive sounds, The Men had a horn section and it absolutely ruled. I would love to have older songs re-recorded with a horn section because “Turn it Around” was good stuff.
